The Bike Gathering got off to a great start on Tuesday 13th August at The Church Bar and Restaurant, with RTE’s Mary Kennedy waving the checkered flag! The bikers then travelled to Carlow and on to Enniscorthy where they were warmly welcomed. Over the following days the group visited Dungarvan, Ballincollig, Limerick, Ardnacrusha, Spiddal, Sligo and Donegal. Various local fundraising events were hosted for VLM along the route, including coffee mornings in Ardnacrusha and Salthill; a pub quiz in Spiddal and ceol agus craic in Gweedore. Fr Michael McCullagh also gave daily updates from the gathering on Radio na Gaeltachta throughout the journey.

VLM has already raised €12,000 from the event and would like to thank all donors as well as all who supported the event by coming out to greet the bikers and give them hospitality. You can still donate online to this event, just visit the Vincentian Lay Missionaries page on www.idonate.ie.
