‘I would like to send special Christmas greetings and best wishes for a happy New Year to all the Volunteers who have visited Ethiopia under the Vincentian Lay Missionary programme.  We have been privileged and blessed in 2014 as always to have volunteers both for short terms and long term.  Each individual has made such an impression in our services and in our communities.  We have accomplished many things in our projects because of their professional support, their hard work and the donations we receive from VLM.  Our Sisters and staff members who have been lucky to work side by side with VLM Volunteers have built their capacity in many ways and have improved their way of implementation and have become better committed and dedicated servants of those who are poor.

Our Province here in Ethiopia is developing better strategies and ways of how to serve effectively because we have been blessed with many well qualified and professional volunteers who are expertise in different fields such as Education, Women in Development, Montessori Teachers Training and Project writing and reporting as well as individual experiences and initiatives.  Each one of them have been amazingly creative in sharing their natural gifts and experiences and willingly used any extra time and engaged themselves in anything that is needed to be done outside of their working schedules.  Our sisters and staff got so much formally and informally from the volunteers and developed their skills of serving effectively.  This mutual sharing and support of expertise and donations helped us to update ourselves and to be competent in our services of those who are poor. This year the volunteers joined us all the year round and they served in different fiends and different missions – some of them coming and going forth to reach out all the areas that they are needed in.  Each one of them have been very committed and made big differences in serving and finding funds.

The local communities benefited in great deal from their presence and we all enjoyed their friendly and respectful approach to those whom we serve.  It has been an amazing year as we have been blessed with big number of volunteers.  We admire each one of them for fitting into our life and being happy with the little facilities and resources we have here.  The daughters of Charity in Ethiopia is very grateful to VLM – those who come out and those who help in any way from behind.  We have no words to express our thanks for their wonderful contributions.  We hope and pray that this working relationship will continue in the future and grow in the coming years.

As  Christmas and New Year is very near I extend to every one – those whom we meet and love and those who are main force out there our warmest greetings and gratitude.  This loving Christmas greeting is not only from me and the sisters but from all those who have benefited from their lovely service and friendship.

Have a very happy and joy filled Christmas and every blessing in 2015.

With my bet wishes, deepest gratitude and prayers,

Sr. Tiblets Baraki D.C.
