As Africa’s IT and internet infrastructure improves and develops at a progressive rate, VLM has been sending volunteers to our partners with skills and knowledge of the online world. These volunteers have, for example, supported the set-up of project websites and online file sharing facilities, as well as promoting internet security and data management.

Training is provided to all volunteers ahead of departure on the use of relevant and helpful online facilities e.g WordPress, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.

There is also space for volunteers with more traditional, off-line administration experience, particularly in the areas of basic book-keeping, donor correspondence, filing systems and archiving.

Volunteers with these skills fit in the category of ‘capacity building volunteers’ who support the overall operations of our partners and their projects through supporting their development and sharing valuable skills and best practice locally.

These placements are for a minimum of 2 months only.
