As VLM’s partners run a number of projects with a medical or therapeutic focus, there are some openings for fully qualified medical professionals. Applicants should be experienced, flexible and prepared to work with limited resources and through a language barrier in these placements.

Nurses are welcome to work at the Daughters of Charity Eye-Clinic in Dembidollo, western Ethiopia. Volunteers taking up this placement should have some experience working with patients post-surgery or in the area of ophthalmology.

Length of Placement: 2-3 months

An Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist is required for two projects in Addis Ababa – Alemachen rehabilitation centre and the special education needs unit at St. Mary’s. As this is a relatively new area of service provision in Ethiopia, much can be gained by having the input of volunteers with experience in this field.
