At VLM we believe that education, skills development and employment opportunities are the essential source of freedom from poverty and oppression in the 21st Century.

The following are some of the projects we support in Ethiopia;


1. ATSE TEKLE GHIORGIS SCHOOL, ADDIS ABABA

A primary school located in the slums of Addis Ababa, providing quality education, basic school provisions and lunch to over 900 pupils daily.


2. BRUH TESFA MONTESSORI TEACHER TRAINING COLLEGE, WOLIATA SODDO

Bruh Tesfa College is a unique institute in Ethiopia. Here young women and men receive full Montessori training and are assisted secure employment in kindergartens for children in rural towns and villages throughout Ethiopia.


3. GEBREMICHAEL STREET CHILDREN'S PROJECT, MEKELE

This project provides education, social skills, shelter, creative and sports facilities for over 300 children and young people who are either unable to be cared for in their own homes or are homeless as a result of poverty or political conflict.


4. THE DAUGHTERS OF CHARITY

The Daughters of Charity also run a number of other programmes throughout the country and VLM volunteers have worked in the following areas;

  • Working with children with intellectual disabilities
     
  • Training and improvement of skills in women's development projects
     
  • Life skills training for young adults
     
  • Assisting with project funding and development.
